Most sunscreens lack water resistance, but BullFrog doesn’t
BullFrog Mosquito Coast Sunscreen with Insect Repellent – available at Discount Medical Supplies – is water resists for 80 minutes. Why is this important? Because according to a new study, approximately 40% of best-selling failed to meet the standards of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), mostly due to a lack of water resistance. What’s more, BullFrog has a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of 30, which the ADA also recommends. Dermatologists “are often asked to recommend sunscreens, and we wanted to know what consumers prefer” lead researcher Steve Xu said. “This way, we are suggesting popular products they will actually use that will protect them.”
If we take a closer look at the study published in the journal JAMA Dermatology, we will see that among the top 10 most-reviewed, highly rated sunscreens on Amazon are products such as Neutrogena Oil Free Moisture or Eucerin Daily Protection Moisturizing Face Lotion which do not offer water resistance and, as a result, do not comply with AAD criteria. Similarly, among the top 10 lowest-cost, highly rated sunscreens on Amazon we find Zinc oxide powder which also falls short of ADD recommendations. On the other hand, several other products provide 80 minutes of water resistance – as the BullFrog Mosquito Coast Sunscreen found at Discount Medical Supplies does.
A resident in the department of dermatology at the McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University, in Chicago, Dr. Xu was “in some ways” surprised by the findings. “There are some important caveats,” he said. “The definition of a 'sunscreen' has broadened a lot. Sunscreens are no longer just bright blue bottles thrown in beach bags.” For instance, BullFrog is not just a sunscreen but also an insect repellent. “This is probably why so many of the products that didn't meet AAD guidelines were because of a lack of water or sweat resistance,” Xu went on. “This is probably why so many of the products that didn't meet AAD guidelines were because of a lack of water or sweat resistance.”
Unfortunately, straight-up sunscreen products are increasingly taking a backseat to moisturizers that do not protect the skin as much. That’s why Dr. Xu warned people that are “going to be exposed to water [at a pool or beach]” to make “sure your sunscreen is water- or sweat-resistant.” So far, so good. But what about price? Some of the products analyzed in the study cost up to $13.38 per ounce. Thankfully, BullFrog Mosquito Coast only costs $2.67 (6oz Continuous Spray Bottle) or $3.15 (4.7oz Pump Spray Bottle) per ounce at Discount Medical Supplies.
