Medical supplies such as a breast pump could have prevented a case of mistaken breastfeeding that took place in North Carolina. A Carrboro Early School pre-kindergarten teacher named Kaycee Oxendine complained that a daycare worker at the selfsame school breastfed her 3-month-old son without her consent – and presumably without the boy’s consent as well, though it’s hard to tell; he has kept mum about the whole incident. The unidentified woman asked Oxendine if she could breast-feed her constipated son twice – that is she asked twice if she could breastfeed him, not if she could breastfeed him twice. After all, if the mother said no to one breastfeeding, she was even more likely to say no to two.
