After a South Carolina teen passed away last month from drinking an excessive amount of caffeine, many now worry about exactly how much caffeine they can have in one day. Davis Allen Cripe ingested the caffeine that ultimately caused his death from a large diet Mountain Dew, a latte from McDonald’s and finally an energy drink. All this happened throughout the course of only 2 short hours.

Home Care Medical Supplies Maybe Useful for Pre-Hospice Care

Submitted by Mariela Miranda on 14:36

Demand for home care medical supplies could be on the rise (the supply is right here at Discount Medical Supplies) thanks to a new pre-hospice care program developed by a San Diego health system. Most elderly people would rather have months to live than years if they could spend their remaining time on this Earth at home instead of a hospital. Unfortunately, those months would quickly turn into mere days if the patient failed to receive medical treatment that only hospitals are equipped to administer. As a result, San Diego-based not-for-profit integrated regional health care delivery system created Transitions.

Yoga, Ulcerative Colitis, and Medical Supplies Online

Submitted by Mariela Miranda on 10:28

Yoga – which you can’t practice without medical supplies online such as this mat – may help improve the quality of life of people who experience the inflammatory bowel disease ulcerative colitis (UC), according to a study published in the journal Alimentary Pharmacology and Therapeutics. “Perceived stress seems to be a risk factor for exacerbation of ulcerative colitis,” wrote the authors. “Yoga has been shown to reduce perceived stress.” And then they presumably shouted ‘Eureka!’ while a 25-watt light bulb appeared over their heads. Stress-aggravated ulcerative colitis can result in such daily life-disrupting symptoms as diarrhea, abdominal pain and cramping, rectal pain and bleeding, fatigue, fever, and inability to defecate despite urgency to do so – otherwise known as ‘phantom defecation.’

Will the GOP Vote on New Health Care Bill This Week?

Submitted by Mariela Miranda on 17:01

A quick Google search for any health related news will pull up over a score of articles all related to one thing; the repealing and replacing of Obamacare, as well as the new plan the GOP is offering in lieu of Obamacare. Health care has taken the country through quite a rollercoaster that began with the previous’ administration’s efforts to create a system that would offer health care for all. While that is an idea we can all get behind, Obamacare nonetheless divided the country in half, with some opponents of Obamacare being influenced by the founders’ racial background, and others with its implications on the US economy as well as the freedoms that were being breached. It’s no secret that Obamacare had a provision to fine citizens who didn’t have health insurance, and that type of policy is authoritarian at best.

Where to get inexpensive medical supplies for female doctors

Submitted by Mariela Miranda on 16:45

Why is it important for female doctors to know where to get inexpensive medical supplies such as laryngoscopes, ophthalmoscopes and otoscopes, pen lights, reflex hammers, stethoscopes, tongue depressors, and other diagnostic accessories? According to the first annual physician compensation report by professional network for healthcare professionals Doximity, female physicians earn approximately $91,000 – or 26.5% – less a year on average than their male counterparts. The researchers compared compensation reports from 36,000 full-time U.S. physicians from 2014 to 2017 and adjusted their findings for factors such as specialty, geography, years of experience, and reported weekly work hours.

New Health Care Bill Could Spell Trouble For US Citizens

Submitted by Mariela Miranda on 17:42

Under the new administration, things in the nation have taken a turn for the weird. Bill Nye is on television again, this time promoting a corporate agenda instead of science, the world is on the brink of WWIII, and Obamacare – the legislation Trump vowed to upend during his campaign, is still very much intact. While some patients may have different feelings regarding the aforementioned dilemmas, we can all agree that rising health care costs is something no one wants. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what’s happening across the country.
