What does transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation mean?
These words mean that the TENS 3000 uses electrical impulses to stimulate the nerves underneath the skin. Contrary to what that may suggest, though, the TENS 3000 unit is completely non-invasive and virtually painless. In addition to that, it doesn’t have any side effects like pain medications do.

The TENS 3000 device alters the manner in which nerves perceive pain so that they don’t send pain signals to the brain.

How to use it.
Making sure the unit is turned off, connect the plug end of the lead wires to the sockets on the top of the device, and the pin connectors of the lead wires to the electrode pads. Wash and dry the area to be treated and place the electrodes. Turn the machine on and adjust it to the settings that your doctor has recommended for you. The TENS 3000 is a dual channel unit, which means that up to four electrodes may be used at a given time (one set of two electrodes connected to each channel).

When is the TENS 3000 contraindicated?
Tens therapy is contraindicated in patients with:
· A pacemaker or any other metal implant.
· Known or suspected heart disease.
Additionally, electrode pad should not be placed on the front or sides of the neck. Electrical current should not flow through the thorax or through the head. The TENS 3000 should be used with caution or not used at all around electronic monitoring equipment or when operating potentially dangerous machinery.
The TENS 3000 unit is a symptomatic treatment but has no curative value. In other words, it relieves pain but does not address the underlying condition that is causing. Moreover, electrotherapy should not be used for pain which etiology hasn’t been established.
