As a TENS unit, the Care Tec IV provides non-invasive, drug-free pain management therapy. Additionally, this product relaxes muscle spasms, promotes circulation, prevents disuse atrophy, helps in muscle reeducation, maintains or increases range-of-motion, and offers immediate post-op stimulation of calf muscles to prevent venous thrombosis.

The long-term effects of chronic electrical stimulation are not known. Electrical stimulation devices do not possess any curative value and is not effective for pain of central origin. The safety of therapeutic electrical stimulation during pregnancy has not been established.

·         Use only under the supervision of a licensed doctor.

·         Do not use during pregnancy unless directed by a doctor.

·         Do not apply stimulation over the carotid sinus nerves, over the neck or mouth, or over the eyes, in the mouth, near the genitals or internally.

·         Stimulation should not be applied trans-thoracically because the introduction of electrical current into the heart may cause cardiac arrhythmias.

·         Do not use the stimulator near shortwave or microwave therapy equipment, as this may affect the output power of the stimulator.

·         Never use in highly humid environments like the bathroom or when bathing or showering.

·         Further clinical data is needed to show there are no adverse effects from applying electrical stimulation to patients suspected of having heart disease.

·         Never use near the heart. Stimulation electrodes should never be placed anywhere on the front of the thorax, and especially not on the two large pectoral muscles where it can increase the risk of ventricular fibrillation and lead to cardiac arrest.

·         Never use on the areas of the skin bereft of normal sensation

·         Apply the electrodes only to clean, dry, and unbroken skin.

·         Keep electrodes separate during treatment – electrodes in contact with each other could result in improper stimulation or skin burns.

·         Keep the unit out of reach of children.

·         Talk to a doctor in case of doubts or questions.
