High Volt Relief with the Galvanic Stim Digital
When you suffer major tissue trauma, you could be at a point that a TENS unit might just not cut it, to apply next level pain management; enter Galvanic Stim. This type of electrotherapy is most useful in severe trauma that includes bleeding and swelling. It is a step up in power and current above TENS and IF units. People familiar with electrotherapy might not be as familiar with this type of device, today the popular Galvanic Stim Digital High Volt and put it to the test to see if its worth your hard-earned dollars.
· Includes: Device, batteries, lead wires, electrodes (3 packs of 4), carrying case and users manual.
· Most useful in acute injuries associated with major tissue trauma with bleeding or swelling
· Galvanic Stimulators apply direct current
· Direct current creates an electrical field over the treated area
· The positive pad behaves like ice, causing reduced circulation to the area under the pad and reduction in swelling.
As stated above, the main difference between the Galvanic Stim Digital and every TENS or IFC electrotherapy units is that TENS units apply alternating current while galvanic stimulators apply direct current. Direct current creates an electrical field over the treated area that, theoretically, changes blood flow. The positive pad behaves like ice, causing reduced circulation to the area under the pad and reduction in swelling. The negative pad causes increased circulation, reportedly speeding healing. High-voltage pulsed galvanic stimulation (HVPGS) is gaining widespread use for wound healing, edema reduction and pain relief Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Diabetic Foot are two major areas of use for this device.
What we like about this item
Being a person that has experienced both TENS and Galvanic therapy, I can safely attest of the difference on the sensation you get from either one of the two. The Galvanic Stim unit produces a direct sensation that feels deeper and more powerful that a regular TENS unit, product of direct current. It helps treat muscle soreness, muscle stiffness, arthritis pain, post-op pain, post-traumatic acute pain, and severe cases of chronic pain and discomfort.
Is it worth a purchase?
For those patients in need of extra strength current for acute pain, this is fantastic tool that will definitely produce some results. However, it must me said that the Galvanic Stim therapy might not be for everyone as it can produce a strong sensation. We recommend that in case of chronic pain, to first start from a TENS unit and move on up if necessary.
