As an Amazon reviewer put it, the Drive Medical Goose Neck Exam Lamp with Flared Cone Shade is “well constructed and sturdy. Cord does not run through the center shaft like other ones - this may or may not be good for you. I think it is less apt to get cut and short out at the bottom like our last lamp we had. Just be careful if you have pediatrics in practice - they could grab cord and pull over lamp.”

As indicated above, this lamp is not to be used with light bulbs exceeding 60 watts – which on the other hand is certainly more than enough to conduct a proper medical exam. Another Amazon reviewer said that “the extension tube has flakes of corrosion or manufacturing slag so every time I raise or lower it rust falls out the bottom. I need to take it apart and oil it, then somehow seal up the bottom of the tube to stop the debris.” This person was obviously delivered a defective product; unfortunately he or she was the recipient of the exception that confirms the rule of quality for this item.

This lamp is equipped with a 3-prong grounding plug for protection against shock hazards. Do not under any circumstances cut or remove the grounding prong from the plug. The plug must be used directly with the correct 3-prong receptacle. Furthermore, do not use an extension cord or adapter. Call a professional electrician before you make any alterations.

Setting up standard pole:

  1. Thread pole onto adapter on base.
  2. Thread Flex arm onto pole set.
